My creative practice of developing tangible multidimensional shifting experiences lives at the extremes of colliding traumas. My works serve as containments that utilize movement as storage systems. They cradle those who have yet to find their voice, those who were killed before they could use their voice, and those who were told they did not have a voice. My body holds the science, my mind the memories, and my spirit the energy. It is community that compels me to sift through these storage systems and seek out the best ways to purge genetically recycled traumas and pains that no longer serve us.
My works have been commissioned by University of Washington’s Meany Hall as a part of Saul Williams’ Motherboard Suite directed by Bill T. Jones, Seattle Art Museum as a part of the landmark exhibition, Kehinde Wiley: A New Republic, Central District Forum for Art & Ideas, Grammy Award winning jazz composer, John Clayton and acclaimed saxophonist, Lakecia Benjamin. Additionally, my works have been presented by the Seattle International Dance Festival, Northwest African American Museum’s Complex Exchange: Jacob Lawrence's Great Migration, Velocity Dance Center, Spectrum Dance Theater, Chan Center of the Arts, Monmouth University, Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, University of Albany, and Seoul International Dance Festival to name a few.
